This project explores how films are framed in cinema environments. Through a detailed analysis of scenes from Stanley Donen and Gene Kelly's Singin' in the Rain, Andy Warhol's Vinyl , and Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, I ascertained that the camera's movements through otherwise similar scenes change the tone and the viewer's connection to the scene.
The project for a screening building for the Columbia College Hollywood in Los Angeles, California, features three types of screens: the traditional cinema area with raked seating; large screens with no seating, meant to be watched at the whim of the viewer; and the skewed screens that conform to the building's curves, warping the way we see film.
